Artist Statement

I explore primal, circular forms based on geometry that connect to divinity and spiritual practices across time. Through repetitive and meditative action, I work with materials specifically chosen for their presence, their history, and their connection to the physicality of existence. My relationship with each work fosters the formal discoveries that drive my work further. As I build each object the materials interact, creating unexpected textures, surfaces, and forms that springboard forward into the next piece. The physical substance of reality is enchanting, the thin strength of sheet metal, the heft and visual weight of forged steel, and the flexible beauty of hardwoods, each hold their own magic qualities. I place contrasting surfaces together to highlight the differences of each. These objects capture a moment of transcendence in physical form.
